How much firewood do I need for a Melbourne winter?

It depends on how often you burn. As a rough guide, an open fire or wood heater used a few nights a week gets through about 2–4 cubic metres across a Melbourne winter; homes with multiple fires or nightly use can need 4–6mΒ³. If you're not sure, call Jake on 0414 103 255 and we'll help you judge it.

What does β€œseasoned” firewood mean, and why does it matter?

Seasoned firewood has been dried so its moisture content is low. Green (freshly cut) wood can be 40–50% water β€” it's hard to light, smokes badly and wastes much of its heat boiling off moisture. Our red gum is properly seasoned, so it lights easily and burns hot and clean from the start.

Why red gum? How does it compare to other hardwoods?

Red gum is one of the densest Australian hardwoods, so it delivers high heat, a long steady burn and a lasting coal bed, with low smoke and ash when seasoned. It outperforms softer or mixed hardwoods for sustained warmth β€” which is why it's the only firewood we deliver.

Which suburbs do you deliver to, and how quickly?

We cover inner Melbourne β€” Toorak, South Yarra, Hawthorn, Kew, Camberwell, Malvern, Armadale, Richmond and nearby. Deliveries are usually within a day or two through the cooler months, often sooner. See our service areas or call for a real delivery window.

Do you really stack it, at no extra charge?

Yes. Most suppliers dump the wood in your driveway and leave. We carry it to wherever you keep it β€” woodshed, side of house, courtyard or by the hearth β€” and stack it neatly, included in the price.

How much does it cost?

$499 per cubic metre, delivered and stacked, with a minimum of 1mΒ³. Bulk pricing is available for larger orders β€” just call.
